At Chicho’s Pizza, it all started with a big dream and a simple idea: make great pizza using nothing but the freshest ingredients. In 1968, two Virginia Beach lifeguards turned that vision into reality, opening the first Chicho’s Pizza on the corner of 21st Street and Atlantic Avenue. From the moment the oven was fired up, locals and visitors alike fell in love with the mouthwatering aroma, sizzling fresh toppings, and the sight of pizzas being baked right before their eyes.
Dubbed “The Locals’ Favorite,” Chicho’s quickly became more than just a pizza spot—it was a destination. The irresistible combo of handcrafted pizza and ice-cold beer solidified its legendary status, attracting everyone from beachgoers to renowned musicians looking for a post-concert slice.
Over Five Decades Later
Chicho’s Pizza has grown from that humble beachside storefront into a beloved local institution, with 9 locations across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake—and even a food truck bringing the Chicho’s experience to events and festivals.
Under the leadership of Louie Ochave and Ed Stockunas, who took the reins from founder Larry Nasser in 2014, Chicho’s has continued to expand its footprint and its legacy.
Partnering with local community icons like ODU and Sportsplex, Chicho’s remains deeply rooted in its mission: to serve up incredible pizza made with uncompromising quality, fresh ingredients, and a commitment to the community.
